If you’re looking for a way to keep yourself occupied for 40 days AND meet a varied range of people, with non-NZ perspectives…….thne maybe Ross Ellison is onto something 

He’s riding the Great Divide Mountainbike route, 4,500 km from Banff, Alberta, Canada through the US to Antelope Wells in New Mexico, he started a mid June picked up 3 other like minded riders and the updates on Stravahave been entertaining (much more fun than the depressing world news IMO)….the group is down to 2 riders ( the other 2 have retired with medical issues,back home in NZ now).

just following the route and looking at the photos reminds you of the size and diversity of the US ….
